Is the Prosodic Hierarchy a valid construct in Phonological Theory? Do the feet we need to account for stress literally dominate syllables? What linguistically significant generalizations does the Prosodic Hierarchy provide and account of? Is the mora a constituent of the syllable? What is the internal structure of the syllable. What components must a theory of phonology contain if it is to make a serious claim to explanatory adequacy? With what components of human cognition must it interface? What is the nature of these interactions? Is a modular view justified in the first place?
